I can talk my way into anything

Fri., May 14, 04:48 PM

When I started out on the whole job hunting lark I had it in my head "who's going to hire me, I'm not qualified for anything". But 1 week later I've been offered a job and have interviews for 2 others. Now I'm not normally one to blow my own trumpet but go me!. Seems I can talk my way into anything, just talking my way out can sometimes be tricky.

The job I've been offered is at an old folks home, caring for the residents in the hospital wing. These are the ones (now I hope I don't offend anyone) but they are the ones that check in one way and out another. They all have either Dementia, Parkinsons, Alzeimers (too lazy to look up how to spell it) or had strokes. Hey big guy, someone else gets to deal with screaming people types, just in a different way. I went along this morning to a second interview and an orientation session to see what its all about. Basically my job is to get them out of bed in the morning, wash them, dress them, feed them and get them down to the day room by lunchtime. It does mean dealing with poop and pee (I had the urge King Poop to add boobies but hmm well old lady boobies??) but the pays ok and it has long term benefits.

In other news, I'm off for the weekend on a mystery bus trip. Yahoo. lots of drinking and staying up late (partying not txtg) and having fun with friends. See you all on Monday.
